2 months old

Little Eddie hit two months this past Sunday. He was a little cranky, but I did manage to get a cute picture of him, which I'll post at the end. I bought a little cake, which big Eddie and I ate for dessert on Sunday night.

On Monday, I took Eddie to Dr. Laycob's office for his 2-month well-check. The poor little guy was inconsolable the whole time we were there. He screamed and screamed, which really concerned Dr. Laycob. He called Dr. Brady (the G.I. dr.) and told her what was going on and she said that we needed to up little Eddie's Prevacid to 1.8 mL. three times a day. This is the maximum amount that is allowed for someone his age/size, so if this doesn't work, then he will have to be hospitalized for a few days. (Little Eddie had been getting fussier and fussier over the past week, so I figured this might happen.)

While we were there, Eddie got four immunization shots. The poor guy was already upset from the acid reflux, so when he got his first shot, he screamed, vomited, and then started choking. I freaked out, so I grabbed him and turned him on his side. He continued to choke, so the nurse grabbed him, put him on his stomach with his head facing down, and then hit him really hard on the back. The assistant told me this was a CPR move and that I needed to learn how to do it in case Eddie ever started choking again. I was really worried and upset, but Eddie seemed to be ok. He was then given 3 more shots, and he vomited after every one. I felt SO bad for him!!

The pediatrician visit took us 1 1/2 hours, but after it was over, I went straight to the pharmacy to get the new dose of medicine filled. Once we got home, I gave Eddie some Tylenol and he went right to sleep. He slept great on Monday night and he even napped for a total of 5 hours on Tuesday!! I know he was just tired from Monday's shots, but I was happy that he got some sleep.

I had a Parents As Teachers meeting with my advisor, Susan, this morning. This was her first visit since Eddie was born and she told me that she was really impressed with how well I have been handling the reflux and colic. I often don't feel like I'm handling it very well, but I just keep clinging to the hope that this will all clear up as Eddie gets bigger. In the mean time, she said I was doing everything right as far as stimulating him, reading to him, tummy time, etc., so that was nice to hear!

Here's a picture of Eddie when he was 2 months old:

That's the update for now. Hopefully, this new dosage of Prevacid will calm my little man down and things will start to look up!
